Unformatted text preview: ARCH211 F08 Assignment 1.1: Palladio’s Stairs SOFTWARE: Rhino 4.0 DUE DATE: 9.14 (6pm) This one week exercise will introduce basic geometry creation and editing techniques within Rhino. The fnal product will be a precisely proportioned plan and elevation of a spiraling staircase (4 intertwined staircases to be exact). This week’s lab will provide step by step instructions for the drawing of the staircase in plan. The elevation must then be derived from the plan using architectural drawing techniques of translation and projec- tion. PROCESS: Using the plan from lab, construct an elevation by extending construction lines from the front and back edge of each step. Once you have extended your construction lines, establish a ground line perpendicular and inter- secting all of the construction lines. From the ground line begin the rise and run of the front edge of the steps. The rise should be 1’ and the run will be the space from one construction line to the next. Complete the same process For the back edge oF the stairs. Connect the Front and back edge with a line this will defne the edge oF process For the back edge oF the stairs....
