Chris Dayal February 15, 2011 Period 4/5 HUSH II Atomic Bomb Debate Arguments Presented by Author of Article The Japanese were poised to negotiate for peace as the US learned through intercepted messages that the emperor of Japan wished to send Prince Konoye to Moscow to negotiate peace to the current war. The US dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were inhumane and unmoral. Targeting civilian lives during war is a war crime. President Harry S. Truman says it had to justify the cost of the building the bomb by using it and was also eager to demonstrate the military might of the United States to the Soviet Union at the start of the Cold War.
