Summary – Professor Jackson Nancy Jackson, a Professor of Environmental science at NJIT, discussed a variety of topics concerning the impact that environmental science has in today’s world, and how one can succeed in the field and enjoy environmental science at the same time. She began by discussing her background and how she became a researcher in her specific field of study. She told he class that regardless of the field, one should do something that they enjoy, because, in her words, “you will be doing it for a very long time…” She then discussed the general points made in the article, and the real-world implications of some of the strategies that were suggested to combat hurricanes and

These three options each come with their advantages and sacrifices, and before taking action, we as a country should assess these risks and make the best decision for the country as a whole. Since I have a history with environmental science, I found Professor Jackson’s presentation really interesting, and I would love to find out more about the developing environmental science program here at NJIT....
