ARCHAIC PERIOD o Hesiod’s      Theogony      (on the Greek gods)   first was Chaos  then came Gaia, Tartarus, Eros, Erebus, and Night Gaia   Earth (female) gave birth to  Uranus (sky), Mountains, Pontus (sea) Eros = (Love) destructive, violent Erebus (Gloom) and Night Night   Aether (upper atmosphere) and Day CLASSICAL PERIOD o Aristophanes’      The Birds     Gaia, Aer, and Uranus did not exist Eros was born from an egg There was no race of immortals until Erus made everyone  mingle 3 Oceanus married Tethys Achelous Oceanids (rivers, springs, waters etc.)  in Iliad Hyperiod (sun) married his sister Theia Helius married Clymene Phaethon
