There is not much to outline. - Certified Public Accounting Firms Take a look at Big-Four CPA firms to know the firms. In addition, compile a list of local and regional firms for our area (upstate SC; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta; and other SC firms.) - Activities of CPA Firms We will arrange CPA firm tours and talks by CPA firms. - Structure of CPA Firms 1. Sarbanes-Oxley Act and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Your Task : (Extremely important!) Check out the PCAOB website, and summarize each of PCAOB’s auditing standards. - How many auditing standards have been published? What are the coverage for each announcement? How about you design an acronym for easy memorization of these announcements? Review Questions 2-3 2. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) 3. American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA) Your Tasks : 1. Summarize the history and functions of PCAOB, SEC, and AICPA.
