Yae-Ji Phoebe Chung ESL 21B 2010-11-15 Every year, 750,000 young adolescents become pregnant and studies show that this statistic in pregnancy is the lowest during the span of thirty years. According to an article by Nancy Gibbs, “Give the Girls a Break”, Gibbs disagrees with Kay S. Hymowitz and Cathy Gulli, who believe that abortion was not as bad as it seemed. Gibbs believe that teenagers are keeping their babies because they do not want to have an abortion and modern day society is against abortion. However in my opinion, the abortion rate is not only decreasing because of the teenager’s willingness, but because of their financial problems and their respective country’s baby birth policies. According to a video that I watched during my economics class, giving birth to a baby because of avoiding abortion was not true. The young adolescents were actually having abortions due to having financial problems. In addition, 95% of teenagers who lived in third-world countries that were pregnant were willing to have an abortion knowing that they might die
