LE PASSÉ COMPOSÉ! (Emphasis on forming the PC with être) Passé Composé: used to say what you DID. It allows you to talk about things that have happened in the past. Parler (drop the er, add é) parlé Dormir (drop the r) dormi Attendre (drop the re, add u) attendu **These are irregular past participles that are conjugated with AVOIR (this means that they DO NOT follow the format shown above) o avoir eu o être été o boire bu o voir vu o lire lu o faire fait o écrire écrit o prendre pris o apprendre appris o mettre mis Only 17 verbs are conjugated with être. These verbs are: aller, arriver, descendre, devenir, entrer, monter, mourir, naître, partir, passer, rentrer, rester, retourner, revenir, sortir, tomber, venir. A good way to learn them is to memorize the acronym: Devenir (to become) devenu Rester (to stay, to remain) resté Monter (to go up, to climb) monté Revenir (to come back, to return)
