Kyle Gring 11/10/2010 MGT 331 Case 15 The Case of the Missing Raise 1. What is Marsha’s conflict management style and how has it influenced events in this case? What were Marsha’s goals and what conflict management style would have worked best in helping her achieve them? a. Marsha’s conflict resolution style is win-lose conflict where she is setting up a sense of authoritative command. She is working against Fred’s wishes and is fighting to force a favorable resolution so she may get adequately compensated for her work. This was obvious to me when she stormed out of the dean’s office and said she deserved the raise and will take any other job if it comes her way. Marsha is looking for fair compensation because she felt she was the best employee that year. The best management style for her would have been to work through this pay raise situation in a collaborative effort. This would have found the true satisfaction of everyone and everyone would gain as a result. 2.
