Kyle Gring 10/5/2010 MGT 331 Case # 8 The Forgotten Group Member 1. How could an understanding of the stages of group development assist Christine in leadership situations as this one? a. Group development occurs in four stages and it would have been beneficial for Christine to know the stages for this leadership role. A group starts out in the forming stage and this is where everyone gets to know each other. Also in the forming stage group members want to discover what acceptable behavior is. If they would have laid out the acceptable behavior in the beginning none of this would have happened. The next stage is the Storming stage and in this one all of the tensions and placement of groups tasks take place. This stage was partially completed with all of the meetings that they were having before and after class. After storming the next stage is the norming stage where everyone begins to work together on their appropriate tasks. After this stage is
