If you are unable to meet me in my office, send me an e-mail ( [email protected]) . Required Text : Financial Accounting, The impact on decision makers , Sixth edition by Porter & Norton. Why should you take this course and what will you learn? Regardless of your major area of study, understanding financial reports is crucial to success in business. You will use what you learn in this course in many of your other courses in your academic career and certainly when you go into the business world. The objective of this course is to develop an understanding of how financial information is recorded and reported. At the end of the course, you should understand 1. The objectives of financial reporting and the importance of accounting information as the language of business. 2. Financial statements, specifically the Statement of Earnings, the Balance Sheet, and the Statement of Cash Flows. 3. The content of the basic financial statements and the relationships among them.
