Unformatted text preview: Nakul Shah Honors Colloquium October 17, 2010 Contact delved into the life of Dr. Arroway, a scientist studying the universe and attempting to interact with beings from another planet. Although she is frequently dismissed for wasting money on a project that is bound to return no results, she is persistent in her attempts to continue her research with whatever grants she can receive. There are many pitfalls on her route to actually communicating with intelligent life outside of this Earth, she eventually forms a line of communication with extraterrestrial beings. After many struggles, portrayed in the film as her occasional reminders of her late father who consistently encouraged her to study space, as well as monetary struggles, she is sent encoded instructions from the extraterrestrial beings. Once the United States Government takes control of the project, the development can begin.
