Bio Ch 4 – Organization of the Cell  06:16 The Cell Theory     1) cells are the basic living units of organization and function in all organisms 2) all cells come from other cells the way the cells are created help them maintain  homeostasis –  an  appropriate internal environment.  Cell Size      o If the cell is larger, lots of volume compared 2 surface area so enough  items cannot enter into the cell as necessary. Methods for Studying Cells      Light Microscopes     o Two main features are  Magnification,  ratio of size of image compared to  actual size and  Resolution (Resolving Power) – minimum distance btw  the 2 points at which they can be seen separately.  Electron Microscopes     o We are now able to study the ultra-structure of the cells o resolution is x10,000 b/c electrons have short wavelengths o 2 tyes –
