CHEMISTRY 1032 – INFORMATION FOR EXAM III Monday, APRIL 27 th You will have 55 minutes to complete the exam. Exam III will cover the material I lectured on from chapters 15, 16,. There will be a variety of different type of problems – multiple choice, brief explanations, ordering, and numerical problems. Most questions will taken directly from (or will be very similar to) examples and problems in the textbook, the MasteringChemistry homework, and the ones I did in class. You will be given a periodic table and a few equations and constants (see below). The following study guide and suggested problems should help you prepare for the exam. In addition, you should try the practice exam III that is posted on Blackboard as a separate document. The answers are available in a separate document also. Chapters 15 (sections 15.3 – 15.11) and 16 (sections 16.2 – 16.5) Here is summary of what is covered in these two chapters and what I expect you to know: Strong Acids: HCl, HBr, HI, HNO 3 , H 2 SO 4 , HClO 4 - all others are weak Strong Bases: LiOH, NaOH, KOH, etc., Ca(OH) 2 , Sr(OH) 2 , Ba(OH) 2 - all others are weak (also: group 1 and 2 oxides (O
