ED 4111 Service Learning Assignment Explanation Service Learning/Field Experience Assignment : This assignment is worth 80 pts. The goal of this assignment is to provide you the opportunity to work in a team and deliver a CRE lesson to HS/MS students in a school context. You and your team will participate in a CRE teaching experience at one of the schools in the Temple area. After the school presentation you will write (individually) a short reflection paper describing the strengths and weaknesses of the lesson and its delivery. There will be more than one possible date for your participation at the schools (dates will be announced in the first 3-4 weeks of the semester and the first possible date will not occur until after the 9 th week of classes). Due dates for the service learning assignment papers will be announced once the lesson dates are set. However, you can anticipate that the due dates will be approximately 1-2 weeks after the completion of your teaching experience. Note: You will need clearances in order to complete this assignment. If you have not already obtained clearances you should start as soon as possible to obtain those clearances. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain clearances. The notification of need for clearances was clearly indicated on the registration materials when you registered for the AOD 4111 course. Assignment Description: Students will work in teams of 2 to design a conflict resolution lesson which has the goal of teaching basic conflict resolution skills to students at Philadelphia area schools.
