1 Mein Kampf My experiences with writing have been as varied as any other aspect of my life. Attempting different styles of writing broadened my horizon and presented new challenges. My elementary writings were limited to scripted, controlled pieces, lacking in plot, detail, and character development. However, I was progressing. Objective writing, up until eighth or ninth grade was a foreign affair, as most of my efforts, both in school and on my own time were more geared towards “storytelling” elements. The gradual movement towards more objective styles of writing began slowly and awkwardly, as I tried to incorporate my more adjective abundant, graphic style into more controlled, concentrated pieces. Teachers, of course, had tremendous sway in earlier years, although in more recent times I have become more selective in my quest for improving my abilities. The pre-middle school era, specifically the fifth grade, was marked by Mr. Stevens class, which involved a free writing period, the only requirement of which was a certain number of pages must be filled before the next check.
