Prompt: Evaluate the extent of change in ideas about emancipation during the Civil War.Prior to the Emancipation Proclamation there was controversy surrounding the idea of slavery and there were national disputes going around. Lincoln showed favor of Emancipation, with it adding value to the union army. The extent and value of changes during the civil war added a huge contribution on the idea of emancipation, the North supporting the ideas of emancipation changing its ways in favor of slaves and also put Abraham Lincoln’s presidency was put into question with how the situation would be handled. Although there were still slaves, people were sure that emancipation would ensue across the North and the South.The North showed support for Emancipation long before the Civil War, but it’s arrival only added intensity to their support. They would put in place acts that would be in favor of escaped slaves.
