I would describe my own current stage in life as intimacy versus isolation. At this point, my focus is dealing with the development of intimate relationships in my life. Another issue in this stage is that of self-identity. Erickson says that both men and women who hold higher identity levels will be more inclined to start and maintain healthy relationships with others. Both sexes who exhibit low identity levels will choose to remain single or will not be able to maintain a successful, healthy relationship. (McAdams, 2006). The four intimacy statuses are intimate, pre-intimate, stereotyped, and isolate. In the first status, an individual develops meaningful, healthy relationships. They can be involved in a committed, satisfying love relationship at this point. During the pre-intimate status, close friendships have been established, but there is no committed love relationship. In the stereotyped status, only insignificant relationships exist and there is no genuine interest in healthy, meaningful relationships. The isolate status is
