COURSE DESCRIPTION : ACG-2021 will be an introduction to financial accounting. It will focus on the purpose and content of the four basic financial statements including interpreting information for decision-making (use) as well as its source (preparation). LEARNING STRATEGIES : Each chapter in the textbook has specific learning objectives that must be mastered. To accomplish this task students should read the chapter and complete the assigned "Brief Exercises", “Exercises” and “Problems – A set”. The class schedule gives assignments by chapter and dates. After completing the chapter assignments, students should evaluate their comprehension by reviewing the demonstration problem and by answering the self-study questions at the end of each chapter. To gain an in-depth understanding of the course material, students should spend at least twelve(12) hours per week outside of class attendance. ASSESSMENTS : To assess your mastery of the course objectives, you will be given twelve chapter quizzes (20 points each) and three exams (100 points each). Quizzes - Each quiz will contain twenty questions (1 point each). These quizzes will be closed book and timed, approximately fifteen minutes. The first fifteen questions will be a combination of true-false (conceptual questions) and multiple choice (computational questions). The last five questions will come from the end-of-chapter assigned homework.
