Computer simulation 3. Ex. Kindling 1. Kindling – repeated learning causing more and more neuron activation/stimulation of forebrain - a model for learning and epilepsy 2. Repeated stimulation firing 3. Day 1 1. Stimulate animal w/ moderate stimulus (10mV) look at EEG and you’ll find some activity which eventually dies down 1. Day 2 1. Same volt given little longer response (more neurons being recruited) but still no seizure 2. Longer EEG 1. Day ? 1. Same volt given results in a seizure eventually 2. One day no stimulus spontaneous seizure 3. Longer and longer EEG 1. This is kindling because of lower threshold and greater response ; most often can result in permanent behavior 1.
