I admire your tenacity and all that you’ve accomplished thus far in your career. Because of your passion for improving public education, I implore that you consider implementing funding for comprehensive sex education programs. Comprehensive sex education includes lessons on abstinence, adolescent development, relationships, birth control methods, and disease prevention. These programs not only provide students with information but also teach them how to make smart, health-conscious decisions. I have witnessed the shortcomings of the current sex education programs in Pennsylvania firsthand. My 19 year old cousin conceived a child this past year. I believe this can be partially attributed to the lack of education on birth control methods and how to properly use them. Had she been properly informed, she might have been more adequately equipped to avoid a situation like this. Because of her experience, I
