Toni Samuel-Gray March 22, 2011 Cloud Computing When we think of cloud computing we have to think of it as a way of having access to resources through the internet. Cloud computing is when accessing applications and different organizations via net. Cloud computing was designed for everyone including developers to free them from the conventional data centers, resource constraint and delivering demand computer power, storage and services. Many companies are investing into cloud computing due to the fact that it can be way of saving money and bills which includes gas and electric. Cloud computing can possibly require an establishment of a standard cloud computing system. This was proposed by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and assisted by the government. NIST version of cloud computing was making it convenient to have access to an on demand network which shared pool of different resources. The pool consisted of server, storage, applications and services that can be supplied and distributed with minimum management and service provider. There are three different service model of cloud computing: Cloud Software as a Service (SaaS) – provides capability to the consumer in which the provider application runs on cloud infrastructure. Applications can be accessed through different client devices from a thin client interface. Cloud Platform as a Service (Paas) – processing, storage, networks and other fundamental computing resources are extended to the consumer on a cloud infrastructure. The applications are created using the programming language and tools which the provider support. Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) – processing, storage, networks and

other fundamental computing resources are provided to the consumer in which the consumer can be able to extend and run arbitrary software which includes operating systems and applications. Cloud computing deployment comes in four different models. Private cloud – the cloud infrastructure is operated solely for an organization. It may be managed the organization or a third party and may exist on the premises or off premises. The benefits that private cloud has are self service, scalability and elasticity. even with those benefits you have more control and customization available from the dedicated resources. Infrastructure as a service and Platform as a Service can be laid out as a private cloud. Infrastructure as a service resources can be used a service. With the Platform as a service provides complete application platform as a service. Even
