MGNT 323 Human Resource Management Dr. Anderson Final Research Project Project Description and Grading Rubric 400 Points / 40% Course Grade Assignment Description Learning Goals After completing this assignment, students will be able to: 1. Define and discuss the essential details of HRM using the strategic model presented in the course 2. Organize, conduct, analyze, write and present an organizational HRM Case Study 3. Reference and cite a Case Study using MLA format. Career Goals This assignment builds career skills in management. After completing this assignment, students will be able to: 1. Conduct and present a Case Study using a structured writing format. 2. Write a thorough and succinct Case Study that synthesizes ideas from the field of HRM 3. Present a summary of information from multiple sources and their analysis of the information in a professional presentation, using Power Point. 4. Work in a Team to conduct an organizational analysis. Final Research Project Overview Students complete a Final Research Project, which includes: 1. Team Case Study Plan (75 Points)

2. Team Case Study (200 Points) 3. Team Case Study Presentation (100 Points) 4. Individual Team Process Reflection Paper (25 Points) Students work in Teams of 4 students to compile a 2500 - 3000 word case study on an organization of their choice. Organizations must: 1. Be a business. Teams may not analyze a government department, nonprofit organization, or volunteer organization. 2. Have at least 1 HRM professional. This means the organization probably has a minimum of 100 employees. 3. Share their HRM Manual or Employee Handbook; at least one source that includes: a. Forms / Tools b. Procedures i. For such things as job descriptions, job specifications, interviewing questionnaires, orientation, annual evaluation forms and procedures, due process and dismissal, training and development, compensation. Team Case Studies analyze and present an organization using the strategic model of HRM used in the course. Team Members interview a minimum of 2 people in an organization. One source is a human resource management professional and a second source is a manager. Team Members also review at least 3 sources of organizational information, at least one of which must be a HRM Manual or Employee Handbook that includes: a. Forms / Tools b. Procedures i. For such things as job descriptions, job specifications, interviewing questionnaires, orientation, annual evaluation forms and procedures, due process and dismissal, training and development, compensation. Additional organization sources include recruitment materials, training information, annual reports, organization web sites, and marketing materials. Team Members also reference and cite the course textbook. Team Case Study Plans are due early in the semester for approval.
