The entrepreneurial process: business creativity, opportunity assessment; business plans for new ventures. Corporate innovation management; family firms; wealth creation. (52.0701) Prerequisites : Completion of 60 hours of non-developmental coursework. Required Text and Other Materials : Barringer, Bruce R. and Ireland, R. Duane. Entrepreneurship: Successfully Launching New Ventures, 3rd ed. , 2010, Pearson Prentice Hall Student Outcome Objectives : The goal of this course is to provide students insight into entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurial processes so that they can better: demonstrate their own entrepreneurial potential; identify and discuss the roles entrepreneurs play in society; identify environmental factors impacting new venture opportunities and threats demonstrate an understanding of industry and competitor analyses assess the feasibility of new venture opportunities; demonstrate an understanding of how to launch and grow new ventures Course Content : The content of this course includes the chapters and exams as outlined in the “Assignment, Lecture, and Exam Schedule,” presentations, discussions, lab work, and other material presented by the instructor over the course of the semester for which students are responsible. Students are required to read material and complete assignments for each class as indicated on the "Assignment Lecture and Exam Schedule." Additional assignments not appearing on the above mentioned schedule would be made in class as current events dictate.
