Use Case Diagram One UML artifact is the Use Case Diagram Use case diagrams are not very important -- use only as a high-level context to support hand-waving during design meetings. Use case diagrams: primary actors on left, supporting actors on right. Draw system boundary around use cases; draw use cases as ellipses. Draw system actors as boxes labeled with «system», regular actors as «actor» using guillemets ("«" and "»" in HTML, "ctrl-`,>" and "ctrl-`,<" in Word).
