Ashley Williams RELI 1001 Honercamp November 29, 2010 New Seeds of Contemplation Thomas Merton begins this selection by defining the word contemplation which in his words “is the highest expression of man’s intellectual and spiritual life.” He goes on to say that it is seeing without seeing and knowing without knowing; it is life itself. For me personally, this is a very important concept when studying Christianity because we believe that the Bible is the truth and provides the instructions for how to live our lives. In the Bible, it tells us to meditate on the Word day and night, only then will we be successful. If we meditate on the Word constantly, our minds will be continually renewed with positive things of the word. Then we can contemplate and distinguish between right and wrong in various situations. Life is based on choices. We constantly make choices. If we know and understand the Word and promises of God, then we can make the right choices. All of this deals with contemplation. Now, we will
