Meserat Zemui AESC 4920S March 27, 2011 Journal 8 There is one child in my classroom who is an English language learner. This student is very shy and often times very quiet in the classroom. She does not normally contribute to classroom discussion voluntarily unless she is called upon. The other students often take control of the discussion and answer all questions. In order to reach that student I should call on her more often in class and make sure that the student understands the assignment or activity in class. I could also use her class work as an example in class to include her even more. My teacher calls on the student and asks her opinions or ideas on a topic. She also helps her with her English language learning skills. My teacher makes the necessary accommodations

Unformatted text preview: that I recommended when she teaches, but when I teach it is hard to accommodate the student because of the overwhelming response from the other students and my style of teaching which puts her behind the other students. I am working on improving this aspect of my teaching because I believe nobody should be left behind in a classroom setting. I believe that this is the perfect classroom setting for this student since my teacher is an amazing teacher and always makes sure to include the student in all classroom activities. She always makes sure that the student understands the task and uses correct English while doing the activity. My teacher never leaves this student out and always makes sure that the student is on task....
