Meserat Zemui AESC 4920 May 4, 2010 Final Reflective Summary This semester I taught a class of third grade students at Alps Road Elementary. I really enjoyed the time I spent with the students. When I started this experience I did not know what to expect from the students, the teacher or the school but the whole experience has been a very positive one for me. To my surprise, I was extremely intimidated by the students in the beginning but from the beginning the students warmed up to me. To know that they were comfortable with me as a new teacher was extremely comforting. They were respectful to me and treated me as one of their teachers. The students are really bright and they want to learn. They just need to be given a push in the right direction. The teacher and the student teacher gave the students the push that they needed. They were really nice and inviting to me and being around them has given me a new found respect for teachers in general. This experience helped me to realize the difficulty of the teaching profession. It requires a lot of patience, time and dedication. I also feel as though teachers do not get enough credit for the work they do which is completely unfair. I have realized from this experience that teachers are educating our future. I have also learned a lot about elementary education from this experience. From my
