Lee Blake 10/06/09 Humanities Humanities Mid-term Humans are the most developed animals on the Earth . The ancient humans tried to explain why things would happen by associating nature with multiple Gods . These Gods were praised by the ancient humans to help them in their times of need, and when they were in need of answers . These answers would come in a variety of different ways such as natural disasters or a great harvest . Ancient humans as time passed started to think critically about life . They wanted answers and the Greeks thinkers started answering them . Three questions troubled the Greeks and were their main focus of their critical thinking . The first question was: what was the world made of? Second, how could we know? Third, what should we do? These questions were the primary focus of the philosophers of the time . The first philosophers of the time were called the Sophist . The Sophists were known as the masters of formal debate . The Sophist was concerned with defining the limits of human knowledge. A famous philosopher named Pathagorus used the idea of the mind to explain things; he was one of
