Water is made up of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom joined with covalent bonds. The oxygen atom has more pul on electrons so that makes ir polar meaning its got a + and - side 2. Why is water considered the universal solvent? Explain how water is able to dissolve a wide range of substances. Waters polarity makes it able to dissolve things with positive or negative charges, so it can attract and dissolve more things than other liquid
