Kennie Rose English 101 Fall 2010 Essay #4 ASSIGNMENT Over the course of the term, we have looked at how classroom writing is influenced by teacher comments, assignment prompts, and style guides. Now, to help you begin thinking about the work you will do in future classes, this assignment will ask you to examine how expectations vary across the disciplines. In order to successfully complete this assignment, you need to complete the following three tasks: I. Choose a discipline that interests you. If you are planning on entering a specific profession, such as medicine or engineering, this might be an ideal choice; however, you may choose any discipline. Then, contact a professor in this field and ask for copies of writing assignments that he/she usually provides to students. In addition, you might want to ask for any other helpful classroom materials, such as syllabi, sample essays, and handouts. The idea is to obtain as much information as possible.
