21:15 Booker T Washington o One of the most important , influential and controversial African America o Mother was a slave and his father was his owner o He worked for a women as a domestic servant and learned to work hard  and make money.  o When 16, Hampton Institute, school for African and native Americans ,  paid his tuition by working threw college o Hampton was run by Samuel Chapman o Chapman recommended Booker T as head of Tuskegee institute o Women went to school and were taught sewing and domestic work o His fame peaked at Atlanta exposition o Booker T gave his Atlanta speech in 1895 o Booker T became immensely powerful after his speech, money came  pouring  o Wrote a book: UP FROM SLAVERY Dubois o Booker T’s enemy o Childhood: 1868, MASS, didn’t suffer the lingering effects of slavery that
