Davis 1 Garry Ray Davis II November 10, 2010 Extra Credit (Federal Court Visit) I went to the Federal Courthouse in downtown Atlanta and saw the trial of US V. Amador Cortes-Mesa in Judge Story’s courtroom. Originally, my group and I went into a court room where the case was already settled; therefore we were routed to a different court setting. We came into the second courtroom as attorneys were questioning witnesses for the prosecution, who claimed to be a prostitute of Mr. Cortez-Mesa. The case centered on Cortez-Mesa, who was an immigrant from Mexico who ran a human trafficking “business.” The woman on the stand was smuggled to America through Phoenix, Arizona. She was promised a new life of glory and opportunity while in America. Along with herself, there was a household full of women who would all eventually be used in Cortez’s master plan to be used as pawns in his sex games for profit.
