Dr. Charles Roberts Image Ratioing in Imagine Note: The PowerPoint version of these directions is recommended for use with this lab. The first thing you need to do is set the session preferences to the directory where you will be working. You will not need to save the results of the Imagine part of the exercise. Also under the viewer in session preferences (Preference Editor dialogue box) make sure there is a check in the box for Clear Display, Fit to Frame, and No Stretch. Display the image (STvincent.img). This is a full MSS scene that has on it the southern portion of St. Lucia, the whole of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and part of Grenada. Make sure to view the whole image. You will know when you are seeing the complete image, because it will appear trapezoid shaped as all satellite images are. Next go to the RASTER drop down menu and select Contrast. Experiment with contrast stretches, especially the GENERAL CONTRAST stretches. When you are finished Close this viewer and open up the file called Island. Creating a Normalized Differenced Vegetation Index 1. Open the file called Island. This is St. Vincent, subsetted from the full MSS scene. Do whatever contrast enhancement you want to the image, but do not save the results. 2. Click the IMAGE INTERPRETER button. Choose SPECTRAL ENHANCEMENT.
