Using Metabolic Equations to estimating EE Table 5-1 : The American College of Sports Medicine Metabolic Equations for Estimating Gross Oxygen Consumption (VO2 in mlO2•kg-1•min-1) of Common Forms of Exercise. Walking VO2 = (0.1 x S) + (1.8 x S x G) + 3.5 Running VO2 = (0.2 x S) + (0.9 x S x G) + 3.5 Leg Ergometry VO2 = (1.8 x W x M-1) + 7 Stepping VO2 = (0.2 x f) + (1.33 x 1.8 x H x f) + 3.5 Note. S is speed in meters min-1, G is percent grade expressed as a fraction, W is power in kgm min-1, M is body mass in kg, f is frequency of stepping cycles min-1, and H is step height in meters.
3/31/11 More math problems: Leg Ergometry Rod weighs 168 pounds. He pedals on a cycle ergometer at 65 RPM against a1.5 kp resistance for 25 minutes. Estimate the Total Net EE for this bout of exercise. ( Note. The front flywheel of this particular ergometer traverses 6 meters per revolution).
