Abraham born around 1800 BCE, city of Ur. God tells Abraham: 'Get thee out of thy country . .. unto the land that I will show thee. And I will make of thee a great nation. (Gen. 12) Leaves Mesopotamia for Canaan Travels into Egypt due to famine in Canaan. Later returns to Hebron. God says:“ 'Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates” Gen.15.18

The Covenant with Abraham And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee ... all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God ‘ This is My covenant, which ye shall keep, between Me and you and thy seed after thee: every male among you shall be circumcised . .. and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt Me and you . .. Every male throughout your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any foreigner, that is not of thy seed . .. must needs be circumcised . .. my covenant shall be in your flesh an everlasting covenant (Gen 17:9-14)

But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee.” (Gen 17.20-21) Sarah gives birth to Isaac God tests Abraham’s faith 'Take now thy son . .. Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt- offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.' (Gen 22)
