Adam-Mahdi Jaffer AP Human Geography Ms. Poorbaugh March 8, 2011 Chapter 9 report The HDI of Mozambique is approximately .284(International Human Development Indicators). Considering the fact that the maximum HDI is 1.0, Mozambique appears to have a rather bleak future. As it is, there is an economic recession taking place, and foreign investors were never very interested in Mozambique in the first place. Mozambique's economy is improving but the pace has slowed drastically. (International Human Development Indicators) Majority of the jobs in Mozambique fall into the primary sector. The most common jobs in Mozambique are mining, fishing, and farming. Mozambique has large deposits of various minerals, such as: Gold, Bauxite, Coal, Granite, and Marble. The most important cash crops include: sugar, tea, tobacco, and nuts. There are relatively no jobs in the secondary and tertiary sectors. (Job Serve Africa) The male literacy rate is 63.5 percent, and the female literacy rate is 32.7 percent. This
