Econ 230 Z.Mukherjee Guidelines for Term Paper Structure: Before you start writing, you must have an outline for your paper. It will be very helpful. Here is the structure I want you to follow for your term paper. You should have an abstract at the beginning, where you state in 2-3 sentences the question you are asking and the main result that you obtain from estimating your econometric model. The paper (6-8 pages) should contain the following sections: I. Introduction – a one-two page discussion of the context/question you are looking at and why do you think we should care about the problem you are working on. II. Related Literature: A short (one page max) review of 4-6 related papers. You don’t need to go into the details. Just outline the main questions they asked and the results they obtained. III. Econometric Model – In this section, specify your model, explain each variable, and the expected signs on the coefficients.
