Assuming that sex in this animal is determined in the standard mammalian fashion (female = XX, male = XY), how many autosomal linkage groups would you find in this species if you were to map all of the genes? 24 autosomes = 12 linkage groups (b) You are trying to map two loci, A and B (art appreciation and baseball appreciation, respectively) in these monkeys. You set up the following crosses: Fill in the genotypes of the P and F1 animals above, using lower case (a, b) for recessive alleles. What can you deduce about linkage between A and B? State how you arrived at your answer given the data above and the genotypes you filled in. To look for linkage, we'd have to look at the F2 progeny and ask what percent of them show evidence of having received non-parental gametes. However, there can't be recombination in dad (the F1 males) , so we have to look at gametes donated by mom (F1 females) to determine % non- parental gametes (and therefore, infer linkage if any).
