We are able to find the concentration of most trisphenanthroline iron by using absorbance and the graph. WE found the percent transmittance of each iron solution. We are able to calculate the absorbance from the equation T% = T * 100 and A= log10 1/t. Since we know the molarity of the concentration of each cobalt solution, we can make a graph with the concentration as the x axis and the absorbance as the y axis with the unknown solution. We find the percent transmittance through this and the absorbance. We look at the graph using the line of best fit and the graph and the absorbance that was found, we found the concentration of the unknown solution.

Unformatted text preview: The reason why we had crazy results was probably because of dirty test tubes. We had to redo our experiment, the test tubes were fresh at first, but after they werent. We just kept trying again. The test tube might have also had fingerprints and was dirty from the dirty tissue. We shouldve used better precaution when doing this lab, when cleaning. This was probably why our graph came out with results that were no good. There was something involved with the cleaning of the test tubes, because we messed up the experiment twice. The procedure was done wrong. But, we eventually had it done, but then the results came out wrong in the graph....
