Akshay Patel Period 10 10/05/08 Honors Physics Lab- Acceleration Due to Gravity Conclusion : The expected acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s. The results from the lab show different values for the acceleration of gravity. We proceeded to 3 tests with the picket fence. We dropped the picket fence through the photogate. From the first test we measured the acceleration of gravity to be 9.76m/s in the beginning. The end of test 1 measured the acceleration of gravity measured to be 10.1 m/s. we determined this by calculating the results. We found the average acceleration of the beginning and end of the fall of the picket fence. So we calculated (1.41m-0.99m)/(0.4143s-0.3713s). We found the average acceleration to be 9.76m/s. The same was done for the end of test 1. The acceleration we got for the end of test 1 was 10.1m/s. For test 2, the results we got for the beginning was 9.82m/s. For the end we got 10.5m/s. For test 3 the beginning we found the acceleration to be 9,94m/s and the end acceleration 9.32m/s.
