Prerequisites: English 0802 Analytical Reading and Writing Where We’re Headed Mosaic is a two semester General Education course designed to engage you in significant themes, ideas and writings from ancient times through today which give shape to contemporary thought and culture. Through close reading, class discussion, lectures, writing and other creative expression, you will develop critical thinking skills and communication methods that can be utilized in your specific area of study. Texts from varying time periods, cultures and ideological expressions will invite you to deepen your understanding and widen your appreciation for the diversity present at Temple University and throughout the world. What We’ll Work On Together Mosaic will build on the learning acquired in the Analytic Reading and Writing Program. In Mosaic 1 we will focus on: Close reading and textual analysis Gaining reading endurance Increasing skills, including summary, analysis, interpretation and argument Reflection on texts, themes, ideas Expression of students’ own responses to the material and integration with everyday experiences. What You’ll Be Able to Do When You’ve Successfully Completed this Course: When we are finished, you should be able to:
