American Colonization Society- This was a movement caused by many disputes, which ultimately led to the colonization, and founding of the Country of Liberia. It was founded in western Africa by President Monroe. This colony was not very successful and only housed about 5000 people at one time. b. David Walker- He was an African American Abolitionist who helped Maria Stewart become the first American woman to make public speeches. David also told the slaves to free themselves by any means necessary c. Fredrick Douglass- He was the best-known abolitionist of his time and our time. He was born as a slave in Maryland. He also learned to read at an early age and escaped in 1838 to New England. He later went onto move a crowd to tears after a quick speech and later went on to publish the newspaper, the North Star. d. William Lloyd Garrison- He was an outspoken white abolitionist who influenced many people in many ways. He, later in life published a
