(7 pts) The aim of the copper solvent extraction process 1 is to concentrate aqueous copper solution from a few g/l to about 40–50 g/l and to purify the solution from ferrous, manganese, chloride and other impurities, which are harmful for the downstream electrowinning process. This continuous process consists of extraction and stripping processes, both of which may contain several unit operations. In the extraction units, copper is transferred from the mildly acid aqueous leach solution to the organic solution.
