There are four principles that provide a sound and useful way of analyzing moral dilemmas. These basic ethical principles that apply to forensic activities are respect for autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice.Overview of the Case StudyThe operating room supervisor at Hopewell Hospital went to the director of clinical services, E. L. Straight with suspicion and concern that they had left a plastic needle cap inside a patients’ belly during surgery. The surgeon that committed the error, Dr. Cultrite, has practiced asa surgeon at Hopewell Hospital for years upon years, and has a reputation for being a very strongman politically. Because of this, the director decided to attempt to circumnavigate around speaking immediately to Dr. Cultrite and advised the supervisor to take the patient back to surgery.
