In today’s world of a global economy, companies have had to change how they do business, including their management strategies. This can include such changes as off-shore outsourcing for lower labor costs, world-wide advertising to reach a larger market, building strategies around the fact that a global market means more competition so managers will need to find ways to be more competitive in the marketplace. These, and many other, challenges have changed how managers need to approach their work. Another aspect managers need to be aware of with globalization is culture differences. When dealing with foreign countries, their culture can be very different from ours. Take China for example, Chinese people tend to be very non-confrontational people, and many will avoid conflict by remaining silent. In America, it has been my observation that we tend to take silence as acceptance of a policy or procedure. This can be a very costly mistake that could have been
