I have researched three sources when comparing the characteristics of a well written goal. I used two websites; davecheong.com and imdiversity.com, as well as our course material: Management by Coulter and Robbins. While doing this research, there were some similarities and differences in what each viewed as important characteristics in writing well written goals. There were three characteristics that all three resources agreed upon though; attainable, measurable, and challenging. I have chosen my current employer to detail some of their goals for this assignment. For sake of keeping these goals in-house, I will not name my employer. I will tell you I work for an insurance company, in the IT Control department. Some of the goals the IT control group has set for 2011 are to ensure IT operates within a $685M budget, implement proactive contract management that enforces vendor contract terms,
