Unit 3 Individual Project 3 Unit 3 Individual Project These two characters are very different in their respective stories. Sonny is a musician, who has struggled with his path in life for most of his life. At a young age, he knew he wanted out of Harlem, and to be a musician but was unsure the best way to achieve this plan. First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross however was a military man at war, very devoted to the path he has chosen. Sonny feels that he is not learning anything from school, and wants to become a pianist, even though his family is opposed to this plan. Sonny’s conflicts in life, drugs, prison, war, lend deeply to his music.
