Legal, Social, and Economic Environments of Business 2 Abstract There are three forms of business; sole proprietorship, general partnership, and corporation. Each one has its own very distinct advantages and disadvantages. A sole proprietorship is a business owned and operated by one individual. This person will make all the decisions related to this business. A general partnership is a business that has 2 or more owners. All or most business related decisions will be made by all of the owners. A corporation is an entity separate from its owners. The owners are shareholders, and the shareholders elect a board of directors to oversee the major policies and decisions (www.sba.gov, 2009). Keywords: sole proprietorship, partnership. Corporation
