Unformatted text preview: LECTURE #2: Record Keeping Common Terms- Spain: Ligament injury- Strain: muscle/tendon injury o Mild 1 st degree less than 1/3 injured o Moderate 2 nd degree 1/3 injured o Severe 3 rd degree - complete tear- Dislocation complete separation, usually ball and socket joint (stays out)- Subluxation slips to rim and slides back in- Fractures disruption in continuity of bone o Complete, Stress o Can be an emergency: deformity, displacement - Contusion bruise; forceful blow to body part resulting in swelling and ecchomosis (superficial discoloration)- Hematoma isolated contusion, more localized Record Keeping- Very Important- Everything must be documented- Keep paper work for 7 years in Georgia- Write down dates, times, names, and actions for everything Preparticipation Physical Examination (PPE)- Usually done 6 weeks before season to correct any problems found- Medical history o Family, pre-existing o Establish rapport o 60-75% of problems...
