Unformatted text preview: LECTURE #2: Record Keeping Common Terms- Spain: Ligament injury- Strain: muscle/tendon injury o Mild – 1 st degree – less than 1/3 injured o Moderate – 2 nd degree – 1/3 – ¾ injured o Severe – 3 rd degree – ¾ - complete tear- Dislocation – complete separation, usually ball and socket joint (stays out)- Subluxation – slips to rim and slides back in- Fractures – disruption in continuity of bone o Complete, Stress o Can be an emergency: deformity, displacement - Contusion – bruise; forceful blow to body part resulting in swelling and ecchomosis (superficial discoloration)- Hematoma – isolated contusion, more localized Record Keeping- Very Important- Everything must be documented- Keep paper work for 7 years in Georgia- Write down dates, times, names, and actions for everything Preparticipation Physical Examination (PPE)- Usually done 6 weeks before season to correct any problems found- Medical history o Family, pre-existing o Establish rapport o 60-75% of problems...
