Course Meeting Information: Tuesday & Thursday 4 :00 to 5 :15 pm in 115A DEV GENERAL INFORMATION Course Description: This course is designed to give you a basic understanding creating new functionality of a reporting nature in SAP. Course Objectives: I have 5 major objectives for you in this course. They are: 1) To gain a working knowledge of SAP’s proprietary programming language, ABAP. 2) To learn how to work effectively in the SAP programming environment. 3) To gain an understanding of how to create “elegant” programs. 4) To become familiar with the data structures extant in traditional SAP applications. 5) To be able to use existing SAP routines to perform various programming tasks. Prerequisites: CS160 (Programming with Visual Basic), MGT471 (Enterprise Systems Configuration) and experience with databases (CIS 333). The Text: The text for this course is Discover ABAP by Karl-Heinz Kühnhauser. Attendance: I will be taking attendance. For each class beyond 2 that you miss, I will deduct 3% from your final grade (on a 100% scale). One final note on attendance. Please find a “buddy” in class to whom you can turn for class notes, assignment information, etc. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to make up for it. E-mail: Please check your email regularly. I may from time to time send out pertinent information via email. I will use Blackboard for this purpose so any mail I send will go to whatever email address you have designated for yourself at GVSU. Blackboard: I use Blackboard to post all course documents, grades on assignments, etc. I will expect that you know how to access and use Blackboard for these purposes.
